

Membership and Organization Structure of IAFICO
1. Individual Membership

Eligibility: Membership is open to individuals capable of conducting independent academic research on financial consumer protection, free from undue influence by any corporation or institution.

Qualifications: Eligible candidates include university professors, researchers at institutes with a doctoral degree, or experts with equivalent professional qualifications. Ph.D. students, members of research institutes, or government officials with sufficient academic research experience may also be considered for membership.

Member Rights: Members are entitled to apply for presentations at the Academy’s conferences (including the Global Forum) and submit articles to the Academy’s journals.
2. Membership Fees (Annual)

Developed Economy Members: US$100 / 150,000 KRW.

Developing Economy Members: US$50 / 75,000 KRW.

4. Individual Membership
• Chairperson of the Board (C):
o Responsible for presiding over the General Meeting of Directors and the Executive Directors’ Meeting.
o Term: Three (3) years.oAnnual Contribution: US$1,000 (in addition to the individual membership fee).
• Vice-Chairperson (VC):
o Appointed by the Chairperson from among the Directors to support the Chairperson.
o Annual Contribution: US$700 (in addition to the individual membership fee).
• Executive Directors (ED):
o Appointed from the Board of Directors and approved by the Directors’ Meeting.
o Responsible for the overall management of the organization; typically assigned as a committee chair or group head.
o Annual Contribution: US$300 (in addition to the individual membership fee).
• President:
o Nominated by the Executive Directors’ Meeting and approved by the Directors’ Meeting.
o Responsible for organizing the Global Forum held in their respective home country.
o Term: One (1) year.
o Contribution: US$1,000 for the term (in addition to the individual membership fee).
• Vice-President (VP):
o Appointed by the President from among the Directors to support the President.
o Term: One (1) year.oContribution: US$700 for the term (in addition to the individual membership fee).
• Auditor:
o Responsible for auditing the organization’s activities, including the operation of the Global Forum.
o Number of Auditors: Two (2).
o Term: Two (2) years.oAnnual Contribution: US$300 (in addition to the individual membership fee).
5. Board of Directors (BOD)
• Appointment: Directors are nominated by the Executive Directors and approved by the Directors’ Meeting.
• Requirement: Directors must submit at least one national report on consumer protection annually for publication on the Academy's website.
• Annual Contribution: US$200 (in addition to the individual membership fee).
